The Kentucky Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (KRCRC) includes people of faith and conscience, working together to ensure access to family planning, other reproductive health services (including medically safe abortion), and comprehensive sexuality education.
Our mission is to advance reproductive justice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. We do this through ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, and OUTREACH.
FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks a Development Director. Our organization has not previously had a development program, so the successful candidate will be building our development program from the ground up: building our donor database, cultivating major donors, building a legacy base, writing grants. We would like to grow our philanthropic base significantly to fund our advocacy, education and outreach.
The Development Director reports to the Vice Chair of the Board.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead development strategies to maintain and grow the organization
• Develop, track and evaluate an annual development plan with target goals by source (individual donations, grants, major gifts, etc) and timeline.
• Cultivate, solicit and steward donors, including in-person meetings and written communications with potential donors, grantors, and sponsors
• Design and implement donor campaigns (direct mail, major gifts, etc.)
• Coordinate with marketing and outreach to cultivate potential donors through our communications, social media, workshops and events
• Work closely with program staff to develop compelling language for grant proposals and reports
• Work with faith communities as part of development
• Research and identify new and expanded funding sources and opportunities
• Ensure that all grant proposal and reporting deadlines are tracked and met
• Attend relevant networking events to cultivate new relationships
• Engage and support the Board of Directors in donor development
• Oversee donor recognition efforts
• Collaborate with the Board Chair, Vice Chair and leadership team to develop annual fundraising goals and organizational budgets
• Represent the organization in public settings
• Contribute to a collaborative working environment that strives for excellence in service
• Other duties as assigned
Job Skills and Qualifications:
• Passion for our pro-choice, nonprofit mission!
• At least 3-5 years development experience with a proven track record of donor cultivation, solicitation, grant writing, and securing gifts from new and existing donors
• Grounding in a faith tradition, and ability to converse with persons of faith about the connection between faith and reproductive freedom
• Experience in initiating, fostering and growing relationships with individuals and organizations
• Strong organization and project management skills – highly detail oriented, comfortable with finances, and able to prioritize and manage multiple competing deadlines
• Excellent and professional communication skills and ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
• Proficiency with commonly used office software and fundraising databases
• While we have a small office space which is available for use, it is primarily used for storage. The successful candidate will likely work from home.
Out-of-Pocket Expenses
KRCRC agrees to reimburse the Development Director for any pre-approved expenses, not to exceed $3,000.00 annually, that are incurred, including:

- Travel within Kentucky, reimbursed at IRS mileage rate
(currently 58.5 cents per mile) for car travel - Travel meals based on GSA Federal guidelines for area visited
- Travel lodging within Kentucky
- Other expenses as pre-approved
