Abortion Pill Facts
  • The abortion pill, also known as medication abortion or Plan C, has been available for use in the United States since 2000.  
  • Medication abortion typically consists of two pills, mifepristone and misoprostol, which work together to end a pregnancy. 
  • These abortions are more than 95% effective and have less than a 1% risk of hospitalization.

Compassionate Care –
free & non-judgmental

​Would you like to speak with someone who is non-judgmental, and can talk with you about all ​your options? There are several good (and free) choices. They are:

KRCRC, the Kentucky Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, (866) 606-0988, can provide free faith-based compassionate (all-options) care, for those of any faith. Call our message line and leave your first name and a number where we can reach you. Someone ​will call you back within 24 hours and arrange for over-the-phone care with a non-judgmental clergy person. You may also email us at [email protected].

Faith Aloud, (888) 717-5010, is another ​non-judgmental source of faith-based support.

All-Options, (888) 493-0092, will provide non-religious, non-judgmental all-options support. 

For those who have had, or will have, a pregnancy termination for medical reasons – a poor prenatal diagnosis, problems with their own health, or for the health of another fetus (selective reduction) – the website "A Heartbreaking Choice" may be useful.

Funding and other Practical Support

​Once you've decided that an abortion is right for you, there can still be many impediments to getting one. While KRCRC does not do abortion funding or direct access support, we can point you in the right direction.

There are several useful organizations to know about, that can give financial and/or practical help ​for those seeking an abortion. They are:

NAF - The National Abortion Federation - (800) 772-9100
NAF provides unbiased information about abortion, as well as other resources, including financial assistance. Their hotline hours are:
  • Weekdays: 7:00 am - 11:00 pm ET
  • Saturdays & Sundays: 9:00 am - 9:00 pm ET

KHJN - Kentucky Health Justice Network -

KHJN volunteers staff a hotline to help people seeking abortions with financial assistance, transportation, interpretation, and more. Learn more at their website. 

A Fund, Inc.
A Fund is an abortion fund which provides financial assistance to Kentuckians seeking an abortion by sending funds to abortion providers out of state. Due to abortion currently being illegal in Kentucky, A Fund, Inc. is only able to provide funding through out-of-state clinics. ​Learn more about A Fund, Inc. at their website.
